Plant tomatos early!

I tried to put tomatos outside earlier and they invariably got hit by frost. I then came up with an idea, if tree shelters are good to increase the temperature of the trees, then they should be able to do the same for tomatos. I took a tree shelter and cut it in 4 1 ft. pieces. I used it the same as I would in a tree, but I used 2 canes inside the shelters to keep them from flying off. I also accumulated soil around the base of the shelter to keep cold air from getting under the shelter. I have had 2 days with frost since I put my tomatoes outside and they are still growing. They are about 6 inches tall.
