Storing Cuttings
Unless you have the right equipment, you should not attempt this. The reason? Freezing them will kill them, and refrigerating them for a long time will allow them to start growing, forcing you to plant them. When you receive cuttings from me, keep them in your refrigerator. They may tend to Cuttings kept for a long run, like over the winter, must be kept in a freezer set at 28 degrees exactly. Another condition you must comply with is that the cuttings must be in plastic sealed bags to prevent moisture from escaping, thus drying the cuttings.
I
tried in 1998/1999 winter to keep cuttings in a regular freezer that
has temps of about 10 degrees. Believe me, it does not work. The
worst part about that experiment is that I made a lot of other people
do the same thing. If you want to keep them in your refrigerator
which is about 39 to 40 degrees, your cuttings will start growing
within 2 weeks and in another two will be dead. The only way, you can
keep cuttings alive without special equipment is if you bury them
until ready to plant in early spring. You will get about 60% yields.
