This tree is native to northeastern Asia, but has been extensively planted in cities across North America – especially in the West. This is due to the Siberian elm’s resistance to Dutch elm disease. The Siberian is extremely drought resistant. In grows at altitudes of up to 3900 meters in Tibet. It can grow just about anywhere from Alaska to Texas.

Thriving on moist soils, this hardy tree can flourish in adverse conditions. Leaves are narrow and 2 inches long. Unlike other elm species, the leaves are almost symmetrical at the base. The bark is gray and rough.

By keeping it trimmed, this tree has been used extensibly to make hedges. It grows about 5 ft. per year. If you plant this tree be sure to keep it trimmed. It can get out of hand if not. Plant about every 18 inches. This tree is deciduous. To order this tree, please go to the live tree page. .
