I am the manager of Research and Development for Lindal, Inc., the R&D for Lindal Cedar Homes.

You may be interested in knowing that we have a produced a new milling process that may open a new market for poplar trees and other smaller diameter trees. As our new process unfolds, we are beginning to work with local northwest poplar pulp tree farms to redirect their economically depressed product toward lumber manufacturing.

Sir Walter Lindal, our founder and president, has recently completed a number of patents to use smaller diameter trees as replacement for larger dimensional lumber products, as well as solid timber walls for construction. These products will be produced on or near the tree farms themselves, from a small and relatively inexpensive mill/molding plant that we have designed. Naturally, hybrid poplar is of great interest to us because of its plentiful nature, but other small diameter species are able to be used as easily.

One major key to producing our product is to help the tree growers (or a local buyer) set up a low-cost mill/molding plant we have designed for this market. An entire mill operation can be set up right on on or near tree farms to produce finished lumber and logs for homes at small sites. Three milling and planing machines that we have designed are the heart of our mills. We will be ready to sell and ship a plant to any location in the world in year 2000. The performance of these mills will be surprisingly high, compared to their low price.

We would be very interested in talking with any tree growers, forestry consultants, or governments who are interested in turning out poplars and other smaller diameter trees as building products, using our new patents and equipment.

You have produced a very good web site to find and share information. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mike Chudzik
