Lombardy Poplar

It is a beautiful tree, grows to 70 ft. in no time, but it also gets canker and many trees die when they are less than 20 years old.

Lombardy grows about 8 to 10 ft. per year. It suckers badly and drops dead branches all the time. The lombardy is a hybrid poplar that was introduced in the United States from Italy in 1784.

I don't carry the Lombardy any longer. The replacement for that tree is the Gazi. It comes from the Middle East, lives to be about 50 years and it does not sucker at all. I do have cuttings of that tree now, I will have trees in the Spring to sale. The Gazi looks just like the Lombardy.
