Aquilegia - Magpie. This year my wife asked me to start some perennials for her. I ordered and started some magpies in the greenhouse, the seeds came from the UK.

Aquilegia/Columbine - Magpie (Aquilegia vulgaris) grows to about 24" tall, flowers have 5 pointed purple sepals, 5 rounded petals that are white on the outside and almost black on the inside. As beautiful as these flowers are, they are not edible.

Well, when the time came to plant, my wife used about 50 of them and now I have another 100 or so that I have no use for. If you are local, you can come and pick up some of them... they are free. If not, I am including one of these with every order I ship that has items from PA, until I am out of them. You can take seeds from the dead flowers by August and plant them right away. They will do fine in a cold frame and can be transplanted in the Spring. Grow very slow at first. Zones 3-8.
