Trees for wildlife

There is one tree that has been used for many years to help wildlife. The Black Willow is seen as a shrub and as a large tree, up to 120 feet tall. This tree often has multiple trunks, with many branches coming from each. Fast grower. Black Willows are found along streams, in marshes, or places where they can get sun.

Black Willow leaves are narrow and lance-shaped (long and skinny). They are shiny green on top, and pale green below. Leaves are three to five inches long and may have very fine teeth. Black Willow bark is dark brown or black with ridges.

This tree is used in many areas as cover and forage for wildlife. It helps all, deer, rabbit, beaver, birds, even honey bees.

If you want some of these, I have them in 1-2 ft. tall trees, and cuttings. Cuttings are available only from December to June.
